American Shavonte Zellous (178-G-86) put on an amazing game in the last round for Mersin and that's her to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 22.
The 26-year old guard had the game-high 38 points adding four rebounds and four assists for Mersin in her team's victory, helping them to beat Galatasaray (#2, 18-4) 77-68. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Mersin maintains the 4th position in Turkish TKBL. They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Mersin will need more victories to improve their 16-6 record. In the team's last game Zellous had a remarkable 75.0% from 2-point range and got seven three-pointers out of 13 attempts. She turned to be Mersin's top player in her first season with the team. University of Pittsburgh graduate has very impressive stats this year. Zellous is league's best scorer averaging so far 22.6ppg. Zellous is in league's top in assists (9th best: 3.5apg).

The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 25-year old American forward Ashley Paris (191-F-87) of Edremit. Paris impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 24 points and 14 rebounds. Bad luck as Edremit lost that game 69-86 to the higher-ranked Antakya (#7, 11-11). Edremit are still at the very bottom. 21 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Edremit managed to get this year. Paris is one of the most experienced players at Edremit and has a reputation of one of team's most reliable players. She belongs to the best scorers in the league with 13.6ppg (#9). She also registered 12.4 boards per game.

The third best performed player last round was American Cheryl Ford (191-F/C-81, agency: Josep and Nicolas) of Canik Bld (#11). Ford scored 24 points and grabbed twenty one rebounds (!!!). Despite Ford's great performance Canik Bld lost 59-73 to slightly lower-ranked Besiktas (#12, 6-16). But her team cannot count on just a single player as she also needs help of the other teammates. The chances of Canik Bld not to end season at such low position in the league, however are less than slim as they have already lost 14 games, recording just eight victories. With bigger assistance of his teammates, Ford could try to bring Canik Bld's a little bit higher in the standings. Ford has individually a great season in Turkey. After 21 games, she made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 14.4rpg (2nd best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Jolene Anderson (175-SG-86) of Antakya - 24 points and 8 rebounds
5. Melisa Can (188-F-84) of Tarsus Bld - 26 points and 9 rebounds
6. Danielle Marie Robinson (178-G-89) of Tarsus Bld - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 7 assists
7. Carolyn Swords (198-C-89) of Ceyhan Bld - 23 points and 4 rebounds
8. Sylvia Fowles (198-C-85) of Galatasaray - 21 points and 4 rebounds
9. Courtney Paris (191-C-87) of Botas - 13 points, 15 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Mactabene Amachree (190-F/G-78) of TED Ankara - 13 points and 10 rebounds

The Player of the week is chosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3* (REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4* (2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3* (2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3* (3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
