Latvia crushed Ukraine at the start of the Second Stage at 2013 EuroBasket. The Baltic team improved at 1-2 record in Group E after the victory. Ukraine fell at 1-2 record in the standings. Kristaps Janicenoks (196-F-83) finished with 14 points hitting 4/4 from beyond the arc.
Latvia opened the game on an 8:2 run. They stayed in charge throughout the first quarter. The Baltic team ensured a comfortable 24:12 lead after ten minutes. Martins Meiers (208-C-91) and Rihards Kuksiks (197-SF-88, college: Arizona St.) made it 30:15 for Latvia midway through the second frame. Kristaps Janicenoks scored eight points in a row for Latvia to give them a 19-point advantage at 38:19. Strelnieks followed with a jumper to secure a 21-point lead for the Latvians. Ukraine cut the distance at 20-point mark at the interval 22:42. Latvia kept pounding Ukraine from beyond the arc. They sank five three-pointers in the third quarter to ensure a massive 65:32 lead heading into the fourth frame. Latvia controlled the tempo in the final stanza. They breezed to a comfortable victory at the end. Rihards Kuksiks nailed 13 points, while Martins Meiers added 11 points and 10 rebounds for Latvia. Sergii Gladyr (196-SG-88) responded with 12 points for Ukraine. Viacheslav Kravtsov (212-C-87, agency: Beo Basket) and Jeter Pooh (180-PG-83, college: Portland) had 7 points each in the loss.

Sokhumi Tbilisi (Superleague) added to their roster 21-year old Ukrainian swingman Sergii Pryimak (204-91kg-96). He played last season at Budivelnyk in Ukrainian Superleague. In 20 games he recorded just 2.4ppg and 1.9rpg. Pryimak helped them to win the league title. The previous (15-16) season he played at Canarias Basketball Academy (1 Div.) in Spanish league. Dnipro Dnepropetrovsk (Superleague) re-signed 28-year old international forward Stanislav Tymofeyenko (204-100kg-89, agency: Octagon Europe). He was a team leader there last season.
