Ukraine injected life in their EuroBasket campaign after they knocked down Serbia in the second game of the Second Stage. Jeter Pooh (180-PG-83, college: Portland) scored fired 20 points as Ukraine improved at 2-2 record in Group E. Serbia fell at 3-1 record.
They teams stayed close throughout the opening quarter. The lead changed hands for numerous times throughout the period. Nemanja Bjelica (209-F/C-88, agency: Interperformances) capped the frame with four straight points to take 21:18 lead. Mishula, Pustozvonov, Kravtsov and Micic gave Ukraine a 27:24 lead early in the second term. Serbia quickly denied the deficit as the teams continued to go neck and neck. Jeter Pooh and Oleksandr Lypovyy (200-G-91, agency: Beo Basket) made it 41:35 for Ukraine but Nenad Krstic (212-C-83) and Nemanja Bjelica dragged Serbia within one 40:41 at halftime. Maxym Korniyenko (204-F/C-87, agency: Beo Basket) scored eight points in a row for Ukraine early in the third term to put his team in front. Ukraine completed a 14:2 run earning a 55:44 lead. Jeter Pooh drained two triples late in the quarter to give Ukraine a 63:54 advantage. Nenad Krstic and Bogdanovic trimmed the deficit at 5-point mark with under three minutes remaining. But Pooh Jeter Pooh and Maxym Korniyenko kept Ukraine in charge in the final minutes. Gladyr capped the regulation with two free throws to secure the winning outcome for Ukraine. Maxym Korniyenko topscored with 21 points and 8 rebounds in the victory. Nemanja Bjelica answered with 22 points and 10 rebounds for Serbia. Nenad Krstic provided 17 points in the loss.
