South Korea claimed the first win at the World University Games. They snatched a tough overtime victory over Ukraine in Group A. Doo Kung-Min nailed 28 points to lead the winners.
South Korea dominated the first half. They recorded a 24:20 lead after ten minutes. The Asian team boosted the gap in the second frame. They accounted for a 48:35 halftime advantage. Ukraine however turned things around in the third period. They went on a 31:19 run to cut the distance to a single point before the fourth frame. South Korea pulled ahead late in regulation but a three-pointer from Sainiiev forced overtime. South Korea stayed calm in the extra period and sealed the victory from the stripe. Kim Jun-Yl (202-C-92) netted 18 points, while Jihoo Kim Jun-Yl and Hyo-Geun Jeong added 15 points for the winners. Anton Rochnyak (206-F-91) answered with 27 points for Ukraine. Nikola Polyulyak (192-G-90) netted 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the loss.

BK Khimik-OPZ Yuhzny signed American center Jason Love (206-C-87, college: Xavier, agency: Two Points). 30 years old Love started last season in Halk Enerji TED Kolejliler Ankara. There he averaged 6.2 ppg, 4.2 rpg and 1.0 apg in 6 Turkish BSL games. In December, 2016 Love moved to BK Khimik-OPZ Yuhzny. He recorded 11.8 ppg, 7.7 rpg and 1.3 apg in 26 Ukrainian Superleague games and 9.9 ppg, 8.0 rpg and 1.1 apg in 6 Champions League games. It's still too early stage of the Regular Season in Superleague, but even now we can clearly see the differece between stronger teams and outsiders. Dnipro (5-1) recorded its first loss in Zaporozhye on Saturday night. Visitors were defeated by eighth ranked Zaporizhye (1-6) 78-70. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Dnipro.
