Budivelnyk Kyiv (Superleague) inked 34-year old Lithuanian international center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-106kg-79). Lavrinovic managed to play in three leagues last year (!!!). He played most recently at Zalgiris in Lithuanian LKL league. In 15 games he recorded 11.1ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.1apg and 1.1spg. He helped them to win the league title. A very good season in his career as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL 1st Team and to the All-Star Game. Lavrinovic also played 21 games in Euroleague where he averaged 8.9ppg, 3.8rpg and 1.0apg. He also played 21 games in VTB United League where he averaged 8.4ppg, 3.4rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1spg. He contributed to his team making it to the semifinals.
The previous (11-12) season Lavrinovic played at CSKA Moscow (PBL) in Russian league. Similarly like in the last season, the team also played in three different competitions that year, and he had a chance to explore basketball on different levels. In 19 PBL games he averaged 7.8ppg and 3.7rpg. He contributed to his team winning the league title. Lavrinovic also played 15 games in Euroleague where he averaged 4.7ppg and 2.7rpg. He contributed to his team making it to the final. Lavrinovic also played 13 games in VTB United League where he averaged 8.6ppg and 3.7rpg. He contributed to his team winning the VTB United League championship.
In 2010-11 season Lavrinovic played at Fenerbahce Ulker (TBL) in Turkish league. In 36 games he averaged 9.5ppg, 5.5rpg and 1.3apg. He contributed to his team winning the league title and the cup. It was a very successful season in his career as he was awarded Eurobasket.com All-Turkish League Defensive Player of the Year and voted to All-Defensive Team. Lavrinovic also played 16 games in Euroleague where he averaged 8.0ppg, 4.4rpg and 1.3apg.
In 2009-10 season he played at Real Madrid (Liga Endesa) in Spanish league. In 42 games he averaged 9.5ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.4apg and 1.1bpg. He contributed to his team making it to the final. Lavrinovic also played 20 games in Euroleague where he averaged 11.1ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.2apg. He contributed to his team making it to the quarterfinals. Indeed an impressive season as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Euroleague 3rd Team.
In 2008-09 season Lavrinovic played at Dynamo Moscow in Russian league. In 23 Superleague games he averaged 9.9ppg, 5.7rpg, 1.6apg and 1.3bpg. He contributed to his team making it to the cup final. Indeed an impressive season as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Russian A Superleague Honorable Mention and All-Defensive Team. Lavrinovic also played 13 games in Eurocup where he averaged 8.2ppg, 4.2rpg, 1.1apg, 1.3spg and 1.0bpg. He contributed to his team making it to the quarterfinals.
In 2007-08 season Lavrinovic played at Unics Kazan (PBL) in Russian league. He contributed to his team making it to the Russian Cup Semifinals. Indeed an impressive season as he was voted to Eurobasket.com All-Russian A Superleague 1st Team and All-Bosmans Team.
Among other achievements Lavrinovic received Eurobasket.com All-Lithuanian LKL Player of the Year award back in 2006. He also represented Lithuania at the European Championships in Poland four years ago. His stats at that event were 6 games: 6.2ppg, 4.7rpg, 1.2apg, FGP: 44.4%, 3PT: 20.0%, FT: 63.6%.
Lavrinovic has played previously professionally in Italy.
His game is described as: Tall player, but not enough strong to play against other athletic centers. Quick. Runs the floor very well. Not very stable performance.
