Glinchak's 25 points and 6 rebounds give him Higher League Player of the Week award - May 1, 2013

  follow us on Facebook Twitter

23-year old Sergei Glinchak (89) put on an amazing game in the last round for BK Kremen and receives a Higher League Player of the Week award for round 37.
He had the game-high 25 points adding six rebounds and five assists for BK Kremen in his team's victory, helping them to crush Ternopil (#10, 1-35) with 20-point margin 104-84. The game rather meaningless between the teams, which do not have any influence on the top of the standings. BK Kremen maintains the 9th position in Ukrainian Higher League. Too late to salvage the team, which is currently ranked such low. They already lost 32 games and recorded just four victories. It's Glinchak's second year at BK Kremen and it's hard to imagine this team without him. Sergei Glinchak averages this season 9.2ppg.

Second best performed player last round was Anton Nifonton (190-G-89) of Ternopil. He is a guard in his second season at Ternopil. In the last game Nifonton recorded impressive double-double of 19 points and 10 assists. Bad luck as Ternopil lost that game 67-78 to slightly higher-ranked BK Kremen (#9, 4-32). The game was between two teams which are definitely not main contenders for the title. Ternopil is still at the dead bottom 10th position. 35 lost games are too many comparing to just one victory Ternopil managed to get this year. Nifonton is well-known at Ternopil and he already established his position as one of the team's leaders. He belongs to the best scorers in the league with 17.3ppg (#6).

Third place about best performers goes to another BK Kremen's star - center Gleb Glebov (208-C-82). Glebov showcased his all-around game by recording 20 points, eleven rebounds (!!!) and four assists in the last round. Despite Glebov's great performance BK Kremen lost 81-89 to the higher-ranked Pulsar (#5, 19-17). But his team cannot count on just these two top stars as they also need help of the other teammates. BK Kremen can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 4-32 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Glebov he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Glebov has individually a great season in Ukraine. After 19 games, he made it on the list of the league's leaders in rebounds with 7.0rpg (6th best).

Other top performing players last week:
4. Evgeni Vornik (207-C/F-86) of Pulsar - 29 points and 5 rebounds
5. Igor Chumichev (209-C-89) of BK Kremen - 30 points, 9 rebounds and 2 assists
6. Evgen Korovyakov (197-F-88) of Khartsyzsk - 20 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists
7. Ilya Shemosyuk (188-G-85) of Pulsar - 23 points, 3 rebounds and 11 assists
8. Aleksander Kolomiychuk (202-C/F-91) of Koksokh-Stal - 19 points, 12 rebounds and 2 assists
9. Davit Maisuradze (205-F/C-90) of Kirovograd - 20 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists
10. Evgeni Beruk (192-G-95) of Ternopil - 17 points, 3 rebounds and 7 assists

The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc.
The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy.
The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)

Utah Jazz waives Bolomboy - 15 hours ago
Utah Jazz (NBA) waived 23-year old Ukrainian international forward Joel Bolomboy (206-107kg-94, college: Weber State). Bolomboy played there last season. But in 14 NBA games he recorded just 1.9ppg and 1.4rpg (leader !!!). Last year he was drafted by the Jazz in second round (52nd overall). Bolomboy attended Weber State until 2016 and it is his second season in pro basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as among others his college team won Big Sky Conference Tournamen...   [read more]

27-year old shooting guard Ruslan Otverchenko (192-SG-90, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) had a great game in the last round for second-ranked Budivelnyk and receives a Player of the Week award for round 4. He had the game-high 24 points adding six rebounds and two assists for Budivelnyk in his team's victory, helping them to outclass, the league's bottom-ranked team Politekhnik (#8, 0-5) with 35-point margin 96-61. Budivelnyk maintains the 2nd position in Ukrainian league. They...   [read more]
