Higher League Round 35: Khartsyzsk loses to Musson in the game between Top 4 teams - Apr 14, 2013

There are only two more rounds left in the Regular Season in Higher League.

The game between Top Four teams took place in Symferopil. First ranked host Musson (31-3) defeated 3rd placed Khartsyzsk (25-9) 78-73. Musson dominated down low during the game scoring 52 of its points in the paint compared to Khartsyzsk's 30 and made 20-of-26 free shots (76.9 percent) during the game. 25 personal fouls committed by Khartsyzsk helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. It was a great evening for Russian center Dmitri Lipovtsev (207-86) who led his team to a victory scoring 19 points. Center Nikola Eromin (207-85) helped adding 16 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). point guard Yuri Zozulia (189-81) responded with 18 points (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line). Khartsyzsk's coach Vladimir Bryaukhavetshy rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Musson have an impressive series of twelve victories in a row. Newly promoted Musson maintains first place with 31-3 record. Khartsyzsk at the other side keeps the third position with nine games lost. Musson are looking forward to face league's second-placed Avantazh-Politekhnik in Kharkov in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Khartsyzsk will play at home against Ternopil-TNEU and is hoping to prove to their supporters that this time they can win.
The game in Kirovograd was also worth to mention about. Fifth ranked BC-93 Pulsar (17-17) played at the court of 7th ranked Kirovograd (13-21). BC-93 Pulsar managed to secure a 7-point victory 89-82. It was an exceptional evening for forward Oleg Demchuk (198-94) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Ilya Shemosyuk accounted for 23 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Stanislav Ovdeenko (192-84) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds for Kirovograd in the defeat. BC-93 Pulsar maintains fifth place with 17-17 record, which they share with Tornado. Kirovograd at the other side dropped to the eighth position with 21 games lost. BC-93 Pulsar will play against BK Kremen (#9) in Kremenchuk in the next round. Kirovograd will play on the road against VolinBasket in Lutsk and hopes to get back on the winning track.
The game in Odessa was also quite interesting. 4th placed VolinBasket (18-16) played at the court of sixth ranked Tornado (17-17). Tornado managed to secure a 8-point victory 84-76 on Sunday. The best player for the winners was Sergey Lapenko who scored 17 points, 6 rebounds and 6 assists. Tornado's coach used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Vadim Reka produced a double-double by scoring 12 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the guests. Tornado moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Pulsar. Loser VolinBasket keeps the fourth position with 16 games lost. Tornado will meet Koksokh-Stal (#7) in the next round. VolinBasket will play against Kirovograd and hope to secure a win.
Tenth-ranked Ternopil-TNEU (1-31) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Koksokh-Stal (14-20). The visitors from Alchevsk managed to secure only two-point victory 99-97. They stay dead last with 31 lost games. Koksokh-Stal's next round opponent will be higher ranked Tornado (#6) in Odessa and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Ternopil-TNEU will play on the road against Khartsyzsk (#3) in Donetsk.
9th ranked BK Kremen (2-30) was outscored at home by second ranked Avantazh-Politekhnik (30-4) with the biggest margin this round 95-65 on Sunday night. Worth to mention a quality performance of Timur Arabadzhi who helped to win the game recording 25 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Avantazh-Politekhnik's coach Valentin Kulibaba felt very confident that he used 11 players and allowed the starting five to rest. The victory was the eighteenth consecutive win for Avantazh-Politekhnik. They maintain second place with 30-4 record behind leader Musson. BK Kremen lost their thirteenth game in a row. They keep the ninth position with 30 games lost. Avantazh-Politekhnik will face league's leader Musson in Symferopil in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. BK Kremen will play on the road against BC-93 Pulsar (#5) in Rovno.



Ternopil - Koksokh-Stal 97-99

Tenth-ranked Ternopil-TNEU (1-31) gave a tough game to eighth ranked Koksokh-Stal (14-20). The visitors from Alchevsk managed to secure only two-point victory 99-97. However their fans expected easier game. Koksokh-Stal players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists. Power forward Aleksander Kolomiychuk (202-91) orchestrated the victory by scoring 32 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. point guard Pavlo Haylo (182-87) contributed with 25 points and 6 assists for the winners. Center Sergyi Teleshko (209-92) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 13 rebounds and guard Anton Nifonton (190-89) added 25 points in the effort for Ternopil-TNEU. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Ternopil-TNEU's coach tested ten players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Koksokh-Stal moved-up to seventh place. Ternopil-TNEU lost their third game in a row. They stay dead last with 31 lost games. Koksokh-Stal's next round opponent will be higher ranked Tornado (#6) in Odessa and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. BC-93 Pulsar made 29-of-35 charity shots (82.9 percent) during the game, while Kirovograd only scored thirteen points from the stripe. Kirovograd was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was an exceptional evening for forward Oleg Demchuk (198-94) who led the winners with a double-double by scoring 27 points and 10 rebounds. Guard Ilya Shemosyuk (188-85) accounted for 23 points and 7 rebounds for the winning side. Guard Stanislav Ovdeenko (192-84) came up with 21 points and 9 rebounds and guard Ivan Gusarov (190-87) added 15 points respectively for Kirovograd in the defeat.
