Roman
Gumeniuk
SK Dnipro Azot Dniprodzerzhynsk (Superleague) strengthened their roster with addition of 26-year old former international center Roman Gumeniuk (220-113kg-87). He played most recently at MBC Mykolaiv in Ukrainian Superleague. In 34 games he recorded 4.0ppg, 2.9rpg and 1.3bpg last season. He helped them to make it to the Ukrainian Cup Semifinals. Gumeniuk also played at BC Kyiv that season. But in only one Superleague game he did not score anything and had only 1 rebound and 1 block.
The previous (11-12) season he played at Juventus (LKL) in Lithuanian league. In 18 games he averaged 6.3ppg and 3.7rpg. Gumeniuk also played 18 games in Baltic League where he averaged 7.6ppg, 5.4rpg and 1.6bpg. The other team he played shortly was BC Siauliai (LKL) in Lithuanian league. The team played in three different competitions (!!!) that year, and Gumeniuk was exposed to basketball on different levels. In two LKL games he averaged 7.5ppg and 5.0rpg. He also played 2 games in Baltic League where he averaged just 2.5ppg and 2.0rpg. Gumeniuk also played 2 games in VTB United League where he averaged 3.5ppg, 4.5rpg and 1.0apg.
Among other achievements his team made it to the Baltic League Challenge Cup final in 2008. Gumeniuk received also Eurobasket.com Ukrainian Superleague All-Newcomers Team award back in 2009.
He was also a member of Ukrainian international program for some years. Gumeniuk played for Ukrainian Senior National Team between 2008 and 2012 and previously for U20 National Team between 2004 and 2007. He also represented Ukraine at the World University Games in Belgrade (Serbia) four years ago. His stats at that event were 2 games: 2.0ppg, 3.5rpg, 1.0spg.
Gumeniuk is a very experienced player. He has played also professionally in Italy, Latvia (VEF Riga), Russia (Avtodor) and Ukraine (BC Odessa and BC-93 Pulsar).
The scouts decsribe him following way: A tall center, yet too green and lanky to be a true force in the middle. But he is a true 7-3 man with a huge wingspan who runs well the court, and has dramatically improved over the last seasons. Great upside as a late bloomer.
