Budivelnyk outscored Azovmash in the first game of the title series in Kyiv tonight. Azovmash was trailing by 4 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 31-23 charge of Budivelnyk, which allowed them to win the game. They made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. 24 personal fouls committed by Azovmash helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. Lithuanian forward Dainius Salenga (197-77) stepped up and scored 23 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners and American guard Malcolm Delaney (191-89, college: Virginia Tech) chipped in 17 points and 5 rebounds. Budivelnyk's coach Ainars Bagatskis used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side American point guard Lynn Greer (186-79, college: Temple) responded with 25 points and 6 assists and Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica (213-88) scored 21 points and 8 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures.

Ferro-ZNTU earned the opening win in the consolation final series. The game was mostly controlled by Ferro-ZNTU. Halychyna managed to win third quarter 18-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Ferro-ZNTU looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists. American point guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) stepped up and scored 32 points and 4 assists for the winners and his fellow American import R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) chipped in 20 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Ferro-ZNTU's coach Kiril Bolshakov used an eleven-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the losing side Serbian power forward Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-84, agency: Beo Basket) responded with a double-double by scoring 15 points and 10 rebounds and American forward Michael Lee (207-86) scored 11 points and 5 assists.
