Hoverla - Budivelnyk 77-78

Budivelnyk snatched a narrow road win in Ivano-Frankivsk to gain 3-1 lead in the quarterfinal series versus Hoverla. The guests trailed by 1 point after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 2-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 78-77. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Leo Lyons (206-87, college: Missouri, agency: Edge Sports) who helped to win the game recording 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuanian forward Dainius Salenga (197-77) who added 12 points and 6 assists during the contest. Four Budivelnyk players scored in double figures. At the losing side American forward Ryan Pearson (198-90, college: George Mason) responded with 21 points and his fellow American import Kyndall Dykes (190-87, college: New Orleans, agency: Edge Sports) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds.

Halychyna - Khimik 76-56

Halychyna cruised past Khimik to sweep the quarterfinal series. It looked good early as Khimik took an 1-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then Halychyna had a 22-10 second period charge getting the lead and Khimik was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 56-76. They outrebounded Khimik 55-25 including a 20-9 advantage in offensive rebounds. Halychyna players were unselfish on offense dishing 21 assists. It was a very good performance for American forward Michael Lee (207-86) who helped to win the game recording 20 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Serbian power forward Vladan Vukosavljevic (206-84, agency: Beo Basket) contributed with a double-double by scoring 13 points and 17 rebounds for the winners. Four Halychyna players scored in double figures. Montenegrin-Bosnian swingman Suad Sehovic (196-87) replied with 13 points and 9 rebounds and the former international guard Sergei Popov (194-88, agency: Beo Basket) added 10 points in the effort for Khimik. Khimik's coach Zvezdan Mitrovic rotated twelve players seeing no chance for a win.

Cherkasy held off Ferro-ZNTU to secure the first win in the series. Ferro-ZNTU was tied at the half but could not keep up in last two quarters eventually losing the game. Cherkasy players were unselfish on offense dishing 24 assists. Americans were the main players on the court. The winners were led by forward Vincent Hunter (208-84, college: Arkansas) who scored that evening 20 points and 7 rebounds and forward Charles Thomas (203-86, college: Arkansas) supported him with 19 points and 6 rebounds. Even 26 points and 7 rebounds by R.T. Guinn (208-81, college: Baylor) did not help to save the game for Ferro-ZNTU. point guard Randy Culpepper (182-89, college: UTEP) added 22 points and 4 assists for lost side. Five Cherkasy and four Ferro-ZNTU players scored in double figures.

BC Donetsk drew first blood against Azovmash claiming a comprehensive win in Game 4. The hosts trailed by 2 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 10-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 83-49. BC Donetsk dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Azovmash's 26. They outrebounded Azovmash 43-27 including a 30-19 advantage in defensive rebounds. BC Donetsk looked well-organized offensively handing out 27 assists comparing to just 13 passes made by Azovmash's players. The former international center Kyrylo Fesenko (213-86) fired 17 points and 9 rebounds (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) for the winners. American guard Ramel Curry (192-80, college: CSU Bakersfield) chipped in 13 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Four BC Donetsk players scored in double figures. Serbian power forward Tadija Dragicevic (206-86, agency: Beo Basket) produced 15 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists and Serbian center Miroslav Raduljica (213-88) added 8 points respectively for lost side. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.
