Joe
Ikhinmwin
As they prepare for life at the Copper Box Arena, London Lions have added talented British forward Joe Joe Ikhinmwin (198-F-87, agency: Interperformances, college: S.Carolina St.) to their roster for the 2013/14 season.

After joining them a month into the campaign, the 6'6" Joe Ikhinmwin came off the bench for Newcastle Eagles last season, averaging 4.4 points and 2.2 rebounds in 14 minutes per game for the north east club - picking up runners-up medals in the BBL regular season, play-offs and Cup during his six moth spell there.

The London-born forward played a season at Division One side Leopards before spending four years at South Carolina State University where he averaged six points and three boards in his final two years before graduating last summer.

Lions' coach Vince Macaulay is pleased to have signed the 25-year-old for his side's first season at Queen Elizabeth Park: "I'm delighted to have Joe on board, he has done plenty of work this summer, played in the London Summer League and attended our Exposure Camp at the Copper Box Arena. That was the clincher really because you have a view of players when you see them on other teams but watching him first hand at the camp was very impressive, he took instruction well and worked really hard, I'm happy for him he gets to play in front of his friends and family here in London.

"Joe brings great intensity to our team on defence, we intend to set our stall out this season very much on that end of the floor and he is perfect for that, as a young English player we want to continue our tradition of having the most exciting and up and coming British stars in our side and Joe fits the bill."

The former GB under-20 international is Lions' second new signing of the summer following the acquisition of American big man Nick Freer, and the pair will link up with point guard Rod Brown at the Copper Box.

Lions' fans got an early look at Joe Ikhinmwin when they played Iowa University last Wednesday and his slam dunk off a no-look Jordan Spencer assist was the highlight of the game.
