Durham Wildcats have strengthened their roster for the new 2013/2014 season with the signing of powerful forward, Joel Madourie (196-F-86).

Madourie is a strong player with BBL experience who will bring energy and athleticism to the Wildcat team. Known for his all-round play, rebounding and floor shooting, Madourie will be hopeful of making an instant impact on court and is sure to be a hit with the fans.

The 6ft 5, British Forward was part of the Newcastle Eagles team that achieved a clean sweep of all four domestic titles in 2011/12. Having spent the last two years with the Eagles, Madourie is now looking forward to the future and a new challenge. I really cant wait for the start of the season he says, Fab and Dave have taught me a lot at the Eagles but its time for a new start and Im excited to now be part of the Durham Wildcats.

With a strong work ethic, Madourie has been training hard throughout the summer break to ensure he is ready for September. Im really looking to push hard and get into the team. Coach Lee Davie has been great, hes been good at motivating me and breaking down my game so I can improve and develop for the team.

Madourie comes into a Wildcat Squad which will see a number of new signings. Joel went onto say, Everyone has high expectations, if we all work hard and play as a team, then anything is possible. Being asked about his career and the future he added, It has already been a dream come true to play in the BBL but to have the opportunity to continue to play in the league with the Wildcats is a great privilege.

Previous to the Newcastle Eagles the 28 year old spent two years with Derby Trailblazers, where he saw success as part of the only all-British team to win the EBL title. He also competed for Great Britain Under-20s at the same time.

Joel is one of the first of a number of new signings for the Durham Wildcats. A player with such skills and athleticism will only strengthen the roster and will certainly bring flair and excitement to the team. More signings will be announced within the next week.

Manchester drop curtain on Senior Playoff Finals with D1M win - 25 minutes ago
Manchester retained their D1M Playoff title after a comfortable 73-53 win over Loughborough. A poor 2nd quarter where the Riders fell behind and shot just 2/15 from the floor proved too much to overcome against a well drilled and talented Magic side. Unable to call upon the injured Josh Ward-Hibbert, Loughborough struggled to find answers on offence for the duration. With the game meandering through the 2nd half, an altercation between Lee Goldsborough and Jonas Dieterich during a loose b...   [read more]
