As his Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders team prepare to face Newcastle Eagles in the BBL Championship play-off final, centre Anthony Rowe (203-F-85, college: N.Georgia) (pictured) is excited about Sunday's game.

"It means everything to both me and the team" said the Plymouth-born big man.

"It's no great surprise we've got to the final, we've shown resilience and consistency over the season, and now we're finally here. It's the thing we've played for all season. No one can say we don't deserve to be here and we have to grab the opportunity with both hands.

"It was a cracking Cup final, and I think it will be good for the neutral and both sets of fans - it works for everyone and it'll be a good game. I've never played at Wembley or in a play-off final before so it'll be all new and exciting for. All of last year's Leicester boys have played in the play-off final before and I'm hoping that will carry us through."

Rowe knows what to expect from the Eagles: "I feel like we've played them a lot and they've all been big games. They're a very dangerous, there's no point beating around the bush. They have a fantastic starting five, and any of them can have a really big game on any given night. They've also got a good supporting cast - I've played with Anthony Martin and he can bring them a spark. Fab [Flournoy] plays to win, he's a winner."

Meanwhile fellow Riders' big man Barry Lamble is also thrilled about the trip to Wembley on Sunday: "I have never played at Wembley myself so it would hopefully be a great occasion for me. Just to have the opportunity to be the first person to lift the play-off trophy at Wembley for the first time in ten years is an incredible thing."

Lamble loves the team-spirit at the Riders: "To me this is a team that really defines the word 'team' we all know our roles and it is the individual commitment to the group effort that has helped us to be so successful this season."

The British centre admits that both coach Rob Paternostro and GB forward Drew Sullivan are tough taskmasters to play for: "They both want to win and sometimes have trouble controlling their emotions in games which makes them seem like they don't like or get on with the people on our team but that couldn't be further from the truth."
