Jelson Homes DMU Leicester Riders take a giant step towards their first BBL Championship regular season title, while the One Health Sharks Sheffield kept themselves in pole position in the race for the final play-off places after Wednesday night's action.

The Riders picked up a huge victory in the top of the table clash with the Newcastle Eagles as they defeated them 80-69 at the John Sanford Centre.

The result was significant on a number of levels as it moved the Riders to within three victories of the League title and they secured the season series over the Eagles which could prove important if both teams end the season on identical records.

In a game where the lead changed hands on numerous occasions, it was a 13-2 burst in the final quarter by the Riders that eventually broke the game open in the Riders favour to take the score out to 69-58 with less than three minutes remaining in the game. The Eagles tried to get themselves back into the contest, but to no avail as the home side secured the all-important victory.

The Sharks moved themselves above the London Lions into seventh position in the table thanks to a 82-67 victory over the Marjon Plymouth Raiders at the EIS, Sheffield.

After the Raiders led 16-18 at the end of the opening period, the Sharks came right back into the game with an 11-3 burst in the second quarter to take the score out to 27-21.

The Sharks held onto their lead for the majority of what was left in the game and despite a pair of Jamal Williams (196-F-86) free-throws to get the visitors back to within seven points at 72-65 midway through the final quarter, the Sharks finished the game with a 10-2 burst to enjoy their biggest lead of the game at 82-67.

He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the final. They also played in the Cup final. A very spectacular season in his career...   [read more]

BBL All-Star Five - Week 29 - 10 hours ago
It's our penultimate line-up of 2016-17 and while a trio took their last opportunity to shine as their respective seasons came to an end, two of our starters will be hoping to re-appear as they head into the Play-Offs! Mike DiNunno (Cheshire Phoenix) As the curtain fell on an eventful season at Phoenix, the playmaker signed off his participation in spectacular style with a typically influential contribution. Di Nunno lit it up at Cheshire Oaks Arena against Leeds Force by harvesting a ma...   [read more]
