Khimky surged ahead against VEF Riga following a comfortable home win in the opener. The game was mostly controlled by Khimky. VEF Riga managed to win fourth quarter 29-27. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimky shot the lights out from three sinking 17 long-distance shots on high 65.4 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 26 assists comparing to just 12 passes made by VEF Riga's players. Sergey Monya (202-83) fired 16 points and 4 assists for the winners. Croatian-Bosnian guard Zoran Planinic (198-82, agency: XL Basketball Agency) chipped in 12 points and 6 assists. American forward Will Daniels (203-86, college: Rhode Island) produced 12 points and 8 rebounds and forward Kristaps Janicenoks (196-83) added 15 points respectively for lost side. Five Khimky and four VEF Riga players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games.

CSKA cruised past Krasnie Krilya for 1-0 lead in the series. CSKA Moscow dominated on the defensive end, holding Krasnie Krilya to just 7 points in fourth quarter. They outrebounded Krasnie Krilya 42-18 including a 30-15 advantage in defensive rebounds. CSKA Moscow players were unselfish on offense dishing 23 assists comparing to just 7 passes made by Krasnie Krilya's players. Worth to mention a great performance of center Andrey Vorontsevich (207-87) who helped to win the game recording 15 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (perfect from the field making all seven shots !!!). Center Sasha Kaun (211-85) contributed with 16 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Four CSKA Moscow players scored in double figures. Center Anton Pushkov (208-88, agency: Stanislav Ryzhov) answered with 8 points and American forward Andre Smith (203-85, college: N.Dakota St.) added 10 points in the effort for Krasnie Krilya. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games.

Zalgiris knocked down Nizhny Novgorod in Kaunas for the opening victory. The game was mostly controlled by Zalgiris. BC Nizhny Novgorod managed to win fourth quarter 15-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Zalgiris forced 19 BC Nizhny Novgorod turnovers. Center Darjus Lavrinovic (212-79) stepped up and scored 20 points for the winners and Rimantas Kaukenas (192-77, college: Seton Hall) chipped in 12 points and 7 assists. At the losing side American swingman Dijon Thompson (201-83, college: UCLA) responded with 15 points and 7 rebounds and forward Dmitry Golovin (192-88) scored 11 points. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest.

Lokomotiv snatched a road win in Kazan to pull in front in the quarterfinal series. Unics Kazan trailed by 11 points at halftime and as many as 19 after three quarters before a 22-11 last quarter charge cut the deficit to 72-80 at the end of the game. American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) stepped up and scored 20 points and 4 assists for the winners and forward Valery Likhodey (205-86, agency: INVICTUS Sports Group) chipped in 19 points and 5 rebounds. At the losing side American forward Chuck Eidson (203-80, college: S.Carolina, agency: Three Eye Sports) responded with 19 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws) and Greek power forward Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-83) scored 12 points and 6 rebounds. Four Unics Kazan players scored in double figures. Unics Kazan's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help.
