Lietuvos Rytas Vilnius (LKL) agreed terms with 27-year old American center Patrick OBryant (213-113kg-86, college: Bradley). He just played at Reno Bighorns (D-League) in the U.S.. In four games this season he had 10.3ppg, 6.0rpg and 1.0bpg. OBryant ended the last season at Tiburones (LNB) in Venezuelan league. He helped them to win the regular season and make it to the semifinals. But the most of that year he spent at Indios (BSN) in Puerto Rican league. In 39 games he recorded 11.3ppg, 7.4rpg, 1.1apg and 1.6bpg. Quite impressive season as he was named to Latinbasket.com All-Puerto Rican BSN Honorable Mention. OBryant also played at Enosi Kalathosfairisis Kavalas (A1) in Greek league earlier that season. In 19 games last year he recorded 9.6ppg, 5.9rpg, 1.2spg and 1.5bpg. In 2006 he was drafted by Golden State Warriors (NBA) in first round (9th overall). OBryant attended Bradley University and it will be his seventh season in pro basketball. The list of the past achievements is quite long as he won D-League West Conference championship title in 2011. OBryant was also voted All-MVC Defensive Player of the Year back in 2006 at his college time. OBryant has played also professionally for other NBA teams like Boston Celtics and Toronto Raptors. Khimky - CSKA 83-80
Khimky overcame CSKA to open the semifinal series with victory. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But CSKA Moscow won third quarter 28-22. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Khimky made 23-of-30 free shots (76.7 percent) during the game. Zalgiris thumped visiting Lokomotiv to claim a comfortable opening win in the series. The game without a history. Zalgiris led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Worth to mention a great performance of center Ksistof Lavrinovic (210-79) who helped to win the game recording 19 points and 6 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field). Forward Mindaugas Kuzminskas (205-89) contributed with 15 points for the winners. Lithuanian point guard Mantas Kalnietis (195-86, agency: Interperformances) answered with 12 points and American-Greek point guard Nick Calathes (198-89, college: Florida) added 6 points and 4 assists in the effort for Lokomotiv. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Lietuvos Rytas and Tautvydas Lydeka (208-C/F-83) have agreed on terms of contract extension. The centre signed a new one-year deal with the Vilnius team. Tautvydas Lydeka joined Lietuvos Rytas back in February. He tallied 8.8 points and 5.0 boards per game in LKL. The centre also notched 7.0 points, 3.3 boards and 1.0 assist per game in VTB League. Unics announced their decision not to renew the contract of head coach Stanislav Eremin . The specialist took over the Kazan team in February. He replaced Aco Petrovic . However Unics finished in just the fifth position in PBL regular season. They also surrendered againt Lokomotiv Kuban at the quarterfinal stage of the VTB League. On top of it Unics lost to Valencia in the first round of EuroCup playoffs. [read more]
