Vitaliy Fridzon (195-G-85, agency: Alti Sport) put on an extraordinary performance in the last round for league's second-best Khimky and that's him to receive a Eurobasket.com Player of the Week award for round 13. The 27-year old guard had the game-high 25 points adding four rebounds for Khimky in his team's victory, helping them to beat Spartak SP (#3, 9-3) 72-60. The game was between two of the league's top four teams. Khimky is placed at 2nd position in VTB United League . They would have been even better if they hadn't lost a few games earlier this season. Khimky will need more victories to improve their 10-3 record. In the team's last game Fridzon had a remarkable 85.7% from 2-point range. He has many years of experience at Khimky, through which he has constantly improved. Vitaliy Fridzon averages this season 12.8ppg.
The second most remarkable performance in last round's games was 33-year old Slovakian power forward Radoslav Rancik (207-F/C-79, agency: Beo Basket) of CEZ Nymburk. Rancik impressed basketball fans with a double-double of 21 points and 12 rebounds. Bad luck as CEZ Nymburk lost that game 86-96 to slightly lower-ranked Neptunas (#9, 2-11). CEZ Nymburk managed to keep the same 8th spot in the standings. His team is not often considered as one of the league's best with a mere 4-9 record. Rancik is a newcomer at CEZ Nymburk and it seems he did not have too much trouble to become one of team's leaders.
The third best performed player last round was Serbian Miroslav Raduljica (213-C-88) of Azovmash (#10). Raduljica scored 17 points and grabbed eleven rebounds (!!!). Despite Raduljica's great performance Azovmash lost 66-83 to the higher-ranked BC Donetsk (#7, 5-8). But his team cannot count on just a single player as he also needs help of the other teammates. Azovmash can only dream about fighting for top spots in the league. They have rather bad season and 2-11 record places them close to the bottom of the standings. Too bad for Raduljica he does not play for a better team. But maybe if he did, his season stats would not be that high. Raduljica has a very solid season. In 11 games in VTB United League he scored 12.7ppg. He also has 6.2rpg and FGP: 57.0%.
Other top performing players last week: 4. Tweety Carter (180-PG-86) of CEZ Nymburk - 23 points, 4 rebounds and 6 assists 5. Aaron Miles (186-PG-83) of Krasnie Krilya - 13 points and 10 assists 6. D'or Fischer (211-C-81) of BC Donetsk - 22 points and 8 rebounds 7. Kostas Kaimakoglou (206-C/F-83) of Unics - 16 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists 8. Janis Blums (191-SG-82) of Lietuvos rytas - 19 points, 3 rebounds and 5 assists 9. Davon Jefferson (204-F-86) of Enisey - 16 points and 5 rebounds 10. Ramel Curry (192-G-80) of BC Donetsk - 17 points, 4 rebounds and 7 assists
The Player of the week is choosen based on efficiency calculation, but also including game result, importance of the game, if played recorded double-double/triple-double, etc. The efficiency formula is a combination of various formulas used by different basketball organizations/leagues. We got involved many basketball scouts and journalists to assure it's accuracy. The formula: 1.5*PTS + 3*(REB+AST+ST+BL-TO) - 2*BSAG - 4*PF + 3*PFRV + 4*(2FGPM+3FGPM) + 1.5*FTM - 3*(2FGPA-2FGPM) - 3*(3FGPA-3FGPM) - (FTA-FTM)
