EuroBasket Pro Big Blues Weekly Update(03/20/2024)

Here is the weekly review of the top performing Big Blues alumni, who are currently playing in pro basketball.



   #1. Brandon Anyanwu (6'4''-G-1997, played in 2018-21, plays pro in Albania) could not help Fieri (2-14) in their game last Sunday. Despite Anyanwu's very good performance Fieri was crushed105-69 on the road by the higher-ranked Apolonia (#6). He recorded a double-double by scoring 33 points and getting 15 rebounds. Anyanwu also added 6 assists and 3 steals in 40 minutes. There are only four games left until the end of the Regular Season. So now every game will be critical. Anyanwu has individually a very good season with high stats. He averages 29.5ppg, 8.9rpg, 4.1apg and 2.7spg. He is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top summer league for players who want to play basketball overseas.

   #2. Antoine Nunnally (6'6''-F, played in 2021-22, plays in Albania) is a teammate of previously mentioned Brandon Anyanwu and both played together in the last Albanian Superliga game. Nunnally was not able to help Fieri (2-14) in their last game. Despite his very good performance Fieri was crushed105-69 in Fier by the higher-ranked (#6) Apolonia. Nunnally had a double-double by scoring 18 points and getting 10 rebounds; quite an impressive performance considering it's only his second season in pro basketball. Nunnally has very impressive stats this year 19.1ppg, 11.9rpg, 1.5apg and 1.4spg in 11 games he played so far.

   #3. Jamal McCoy (6'5''-SG-1993, played in 2015-17, currently in Armenia) led Erebuni to a victory over the closely-ranked Arabkir (5-6) 105-101 in a derby game in the Armenian A-League last Friday. He was MVP of the game. McCoy recorded a double-double by scoring 39 points and getting 11 rebounds. He also added and 3 steals in 39 minutes. It was the game of the round between two top 4 ranked teams. Erebuni Yerevan (9-3) is placed first in the A-League. It was his team's sixth consecutive victory in a row. The Regular Season already ended. It's McCoy's first season with the team. This year McCoy has very high stats. He averages 23.3ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.2apg and 1.7spg. Worth to mention McCoy played also at Eurobasket Summer League, which helped him get the job in pro basketball.

   #4. Mark Durgan (6'1''-G-1992, played in 2014-16, plays pro in the TBL) was not able to secure a victory for the Cincinnati Warriors (2-3) in their game against the Medora Timberjacks (3-2) in the TBL. He scored 6 points, had 5 rebounds and dished 4 assists. The Cincinnati Warriors (#6) lost 103-113 in Medora to the Timberjacks. But this is still an early stage of the season and everything may happen. It's Durgan's first year with the team. This season Durgan averages 7.7ppg, 3.7rpg and 1.3apg in three games.

DJ McDonald (6'6''-F) played for Carolina Elite in the SCBL few monts ago
Greg Purnell (6'5''-G/F, played in 2016-20) played for Urartu in Armenian A-League last year
Chris Knight (6'5''-F-1999) played for NOVA Bulls in the PBA last year
