*In 1986 Manchester United and Manchester Giants merged at the end of April 1986 and agreed to take the name Manchester United

*In 1983 Warrington Lada Vikings merged with Wakewood Liverpool creating FSO Cars Warrington & Liverpool Vikings
*1984-1985: in January 1985 when just a few days before the National Cup final Manchester United F.C. bought the FSO Cars Liverpool & Warrington club, renaming them for the final and relocating to Stretford
*In 2001-02 withdrew during the season due to financial reasons
