Levski Sofia clinch the title in Prishtina - Apr 27, 2014

Final: Galil Gilboa - Levski Sofia 69-75
Levski are the new Balkan League champions. They dethroned Galil Gilboa edging those in Prishtina tonight. Lionel Chalmers (184-G-80, college: Xavier) stepped up with 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Bulgarian team to the triumph. The teams traded baskets throughout the opening quarter. The scoreboard read 19:19 after ten minutes of action. Levski pulled ahead in the second frame. The Bulgarian team dropped 21 points in the quarter and piled up a 40:32 halftime lead. Galil Gilboa did not allow their opponents to pull away in the third term. The Israeli team capped the quarter on an 11:5 run to pull within two points 54:56. Rick Jackson (206-F-89, college: Syracuse) tied things up at 63 midway through the fourth frame. But Levksi scored next seven points to regain the advantage. Younger gave a trace of hope to Galil Gilboa cutting the deficit at 3-point mark 69:72. However Jumaine Jones (202-F-79, college: Georgia) and Brandon Heath went deadly from the stripe to seal the victory for Levski. Jumaine Jones finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds, while Brandon Heath contributed 11 points for Levski. Rick Jackson answered with 17 points for Galil Gilboa. Amit Simhon had 14 points in the defeat.

3rd Place: Balkan - Sigal Prishtina 79-73
BC Balkan upset hosting Sigal Prishtina today and stepped onto the Balkan League pedestal. The Bulgarian team occupied the third position. Pavel Marinov (199-SF-88, agency: Interperformances) chipped in 18 points and collected 7 rebounds to pace the winners. Balkan jumped to a 21:17 lead after ten minutes. Sigal Prishtina stiffened their defence in the second frame. They held the visitors to just 12 points in the quarter and ensured a 34:33 halftime advantage. The teams traded baskets throughout the third term. Sigal Prishtina entered the fourth frame up by one point 49:48. But Balkan turned things around in the fourth period. They unleashed 31 points and raced to the victory. Martin Marinov (191-SG-85) accounted for 13 points, while Logan Stutz (205-F-88, college: Washburn) added 14 points for the winners. Blerim Mazreku (206-F/C-81) answered with 25 points for Sigal Pristhina. Antabia Waller had 13 points in the loss.



Galil Gilboa and Levski Sofia to clash for title - Apr 25, 2014

Galil Gilboa - Sigal Prishtina 86-74
Galil Gilboa advanced into Balkan League Final. They overcame hosting Sigal Prishtina in the second semifinal clash of the day today. Gerald Robinson (185-PG-89, college: Georgia) chipped in 18 points, issued 6 assists and grabbed 5 boards for the defending champions. Sigal Prishtina enjoyed a 21:19 lead after ten minutes. The Kosovo team stayed in front throughout the second term. Sigal Prishtina accumulated a 41:37 halftime advantage. The hosts maintained the advantage throughout the third term. The Kosovo side entered the fourth stanza up by 5 points 64:59. But Galil Gilboa turned things around in the fourth frame. The Israeli team went on a massive 27:10 rally in the final term and sealed a comfortable victory at the end. DeShawn Sims (203-F-88, college: Michigan) posted 16 points, while Amit Simhon and Tony Younger had 13 points each in the victory. Blerim Mazreku (206-F/C-81) responded with 16 points and 11 rebounds for Sigal Prishtina. Dardan Berisha (193-SG-88) delivered 16 points and 9 assists in the defeat.

Levski Sofia - Balkan 94-85 OT
Levski became the first Balkan League finalists. They prevailed against Bulgarian rivals Balkan in the opening semifinal game of the day in Prishtina. Brandon Heath (190-G-84, college: San Diego St.) nailed 23 points, issued 8 assists and grabbed 5 boards for the winners. Balkan got to a very confident start. They secured a 23:18 lead after ten minutes. Balkan stretched the margin in the second frame. They established a 45:34 halftime lead. Balkan did not allow Levski get any closer in the third term. The margin grew at 15-point mark before the start of the fourth period. But Levski recovered in the fourth period. They opened the stanza on an 18:3 run to level things up at 71. Pavel Marinov (199-SF-88, agency: Interperformances) gave the lead back to Balkan but Brandon Heath soon secured a 78:75 advantage for Levski. Pavel Marinov came up with a three-pointer late in regulation to tie things up at 78 and force overtime. Brandon Heath nailed 6 points in the extra period and carried Levski to the victory. Jumaine Jones (202-F-79, college: Georgia) posted 16 points and 9 rebounds, while Nikolay Varbanov had 14 points in the winning effort. Ivan Lilov (196-SG-88) answered with 21 points, 7 assists and 5 boards for Balkan. Pavel Marinov netted 19 points in the defeat.
