Real Madrid conquered EuroLeague trophy. They fired past Fenerbahce in the championship game in Belgrade tonight. Fabien Causeur (195-SG-87) nailed 17 points to lead the champions.
The teams went neck and neck throughout the first period. However Anthony Randolph wrapped the period up with a three-pointer to give Real a 21:17 lead. The Spanish team extended the lead to 8 points early in the second term. Fenerbahce however finished the half strong and ensured a 40:38 halftime advantage. Real tipped off the second half with 7 straight points to regain the lead. Fabien Causeur and Felipe Reyes (204-PF-80) gave Real a 59:52 advantage late in the period. They entered the fourth quarter up by 8 points 63:55. Jaycee Carroll (188-SG-83) opened a double-digit lead for Real early in the fourth period. Real maintained the advantage as they entered the final 90 seconds of regulation up by 9 points 80:71. Brad Wanamaker (193-G-89, college: Pittsburgh) then followed with four consecutive free throws to reduce the deficit. Bobby Dixon (178-PG-83, college: Troy, agency: BeoBasket) drained a three-pointer to pull Fenerbahce within 3 points 78:81 with 24 seconds left. Fabien Causeur missed two free throws but Trey Thompkins (208-F-90, college: Georgia) came up with a crucial offensive rebound and converted a two-pointer to make it 83:78. Nicolo Melli (205-PF-91) and Fabien Causeur exchanged points and Real marched to the triumph at the end. Luka Doncic (201-G-99) nailed 15 points, while Trey Thompkins added 10 points in the victory. Nicolo Melli replied with game-high 28 points and 6 rebounds for Fenerbahce. Brad Wanamaker had 14 points in the loss.
