Olympiacos - Real Madrid 78-79

Sergio Llull (190-G-1987) sank a jumper with 3 seconds remaining in regulation and Real Madrid tamed Olympiacos to win 22/23 Euroleague crown. The win marked the 11th Euroleague trophy for the renowned Spanish team. Sergio Rodriguez (191-PG-1986) tossed in 15 points and dished out 9 assists to lead the champions.
Olympiacos got to a strong start. The Greek team poured in 24 points in the first period to gain a 7-point lead. But Real Madrid responded with a fierce offensive effort in the second term. The Spanish team poured in 28 points in the period to tie the score at 45 heading into the locker room. The teams stayed neck and neck throughout the third period. Olympiacos held their opponents to just 14 points in the quarter to take a 4-point lead. Aleksandar Vezenkov (206-F-1995) gave Olympiacos a 7-point lead midway through the fourth term 74-67. Olympiacos stayed in front as Isaiah Canaan (183-G-1991, college: Murray St.) made it 78-72 with just over two minutes remaining. But Sergio Rodriguez sank quick five points to pull Real within one 77-78 with 46 seconds remaining. Moustapha Fall missed a jumper and Sergio Llull punished Olympiacos with his first bucket of the night to give Real a 79-78 lead. Kostas Sloukas (190-PG-1990) had a chance to win it for Olympiacos but missed his attempt as Real Madrid got away with the trophy. Walter Tavares (220-C-1992) posted 13 points, while Mario Hezonja (202-SF-1995) added 12 points in the win. Aleksandar Vezenkov answered with 29 points and 9 rebounds for Olympiacos. Isaiah Canaan banked in 21 points in the defeat.

Monaco finished third in the 2022/23 Euroleague season. They outgunned FC Barcelona in the consolation final in Kaunas today. Matthew Strazel (182-PG-2002) finished with 14 points to pace the winners.
Monaco dominated in the first half. They grabbed a 24-13 lead ten minutes into the game. The margin grew at 16-point mark at the big break 44-28. Monaco kept Barca at bay throughout the third period. The Monegasque team secured a 60-45 advantage heading into the fourth period. Barca narrowed the gap in the final quarter but could not avert the loss. Alpha Diallo (201-F-1997, college: Providence) and Elie Okobo (191-G-1997) posted 10 points each for Monaco. Nikola Mirotic (208-PF-1991) answered with 15 points for Barca. Alex Abrines (198-SF-1993) had 9 points in the loss.
